I’ve been a fan of Leonard Cohen for many years so when I saw that he announced a tour in early 2012, I was very keen to get a ticket. My dad & I looked at a few different locations and decided that Berlin was the place for us.
The venue ‘Waldbühne’ is by far the best venue we’ve ever been to. There was something magical about walking through a forest to get to the Venue. After getting your ticket checked at the gate, the woodlands opens up to reveal this amazing amphitheatre surrounded by trees on all sides.
This was the first time my dad & I had seen Cohen so we were very excited. We sat at the back of the venue so we could lean aginst the wall as there are no seats. This was a great idea as we were there for about 5 hours, the set was around 3 hours long. The other benefit of where we sat was we were new the bar so it was easy to get a drink and come back.
Below is one of the last tracks on his incredible set list. This was not filmed by me, I was so engrossed in the show I only got a few photos.
I took this photo in 2012, not sure what camera I had at the time. You can see what I mean about the woodland surrounding the venue! Such an incredible venue suitable for an incredible evening!
Here are some other photos from my trip to Berlin.
