2021 is looking as uncertain as most of 2020 so making plans for the year ahead isn’t easy. But we have to focus on the positives of the progress in science with the rollout of the vaccine gives us hope that we will be able to bring back some of the normal things we all took for granted before the Covid-19 outbreak.
Like many people in the UK, we had lots of great things booked in for 2020. Some we have rearranged, and others are on hold until things look more stable. We’ve moved our wedding until July this year. We were due to get married in May 2020, but due to the first lockdown, we moved this to February 2021. We moved it again to July 2021 back in December when it was clear that February was just too soon. We’re hoping that we can go ahead with the wedding in 2021 (Wedding 3.0), but we won’t compromise having the day that we’ve always wanted so we will move it again if we need to.
Sporting wise, most of the events booked for 2020 moved to 2021. So this year could be a very active one. I currently have a 4-mile swim booked in for the summer in Bala Lake, North Wales. I’ve got 3 or 4 5 and 10k runs booked in later in the year. The main sporting event of 2021 will be the Cork Half Iron Man due to take place in August. My training for this is already underway and will increase in intensity as the months go on. I also plan to get out in the late spring/summer on my Kayak, which I bought last year. I used it at least 15 times last year and loved every trip; I plan to do the same again this year.
On the music scene, this year could be really special if all the gig’s I’ve got booked can go ahead. I’m optimistic that some will go ahead, but I can’t see them all being able to occur. I’ve got 2 nights booked for Brain Wilson, one in Liverpool and the other in Manchester. I’ve also got tickets for, David Gray, The Who, Haim, Simply Dylan, Van Morrison and Elton Jon. Hopefully, more will be added to this list as the year goes on.
I’ve been very fortunate to have worked right through this pandemic and I hope that 2021 will be no different. This year I plan to work as hard as last year focusing on my role within the business and ensure I deliver the results that suit the business and help me hit my own personal goals.
We’re planning to move house this year which has been ongoing since the end of the summer last year. Finger crossed this will progress and we can move into our new home later this year.
Overall we have a huge amount of things to focus on and be great for. finger crossed we can do more of the things we love and spend time with the people we want to.
Regardless of if any of the above goes ahead or not, I will stay grateful for being fortunate to still be employed and have a loving family and friends around me. We all need to make sure that we look after each other and don’t take anything for granted.
